Edwardian Conservatory in Surrey

Mr & Mrs Sharp came to us looking for a room which could be used all year round but that also felt more of a room rather than a conservatory.

Their home was a period building with green hardwood painted windows. Based on initial discussions of their requirement, we suggested a hardwood conservatory using a 'Livin Room' roof, achieving a crossover extension which is classed as a conservatory and requires no building regulations. As we were extending onto an existing extension, planning permission would be needed.

Foundations were dug and concrete and blockwork used to bring a dwarf wall up to the required height. The floor was tanked and concreted to give a firm sub base. We then ordered frames from the base measurement (as we were using hardwood, measurements were crucial). Hardwood frames were installed along with an Ultraframe 'Livin Room' style roof, all external walls rendered, all internal walls plastered, and we boxed out the internal roof section to leave a small lantern exposed at the top. Underfloor heating was laid into screed with a black slate finish on top, finishing the floor before the screed had dried properly.

Mr & Mrs Sharp are happy with end result and it feels much bigger than they were expecting, and the whole structure blends in well with the current house.
